Durable, flexible, and highly realistic for repeat use in trauma and wound simulation.
Choose an appliance in the appropriate size and skin tone.
This is particularly important when the appliance will be used repeatedly on the same actor or manikin.
Custom sizing and skin tones are available on request.
Wrap the appliance around the chosen limb. It should fit snugly.
If too tight, use additional Velcro to lengthen the closure.
If too loose, reduce the mesh backing with safety pins, tape, or stitching to create a better fit.
You can add a bloodline system under the appliance:
Make a small opening in the silicone where the blood should appear.
Feed a tube through the opening and secure it along the back using tape.
Connect the tube to a blood pump or syringe.
Note: MEDICFX appliances can also be pre-ordered with integrated bloodlines.
MEDICFX appliances can be painted using alcohol-based or grease paints.
These are temporary and can be removed with cleaning.
Do not attempt to fully change the skin tone using foundation makeup, as this will result in a patchy appearance.
You can safely apply bruising, dirt, shading, and trauma effects.
You may add blood for realism:
Water-based bloodmay bead on silicone. To improve adhesion, mix in a drop of dish soap before application
For better results, use silicone-compatible blood. It adheres better and offers a more realistic visual, though it is more expensive.
MEDICFX supplies professional-grade simulation blood for this purpose.
All MEDICFX appliances can be treated as if they are real wounds:
Tape, bandage, and clean using warm or cold water and isopropyl alcohol
Some appliances with mesh reinforcement can be cut open and sutured closed for repeated procedural training
Remove the appliance carefully
Rinse under lukewarm water
Dry with a cloth or paper towel, and use a hairdryer to reach internal or tight areas
Lightly powder with baby powder or talcum
Store in a cool, dark place, inside a plastic bag or container
Avoid exposure to direct sunlight
All MEDICFX wrap-around appliances are made from robust, high-quality silicone that withstands frequent handling.
With proper care, they will last for many training sessions.
Some wear and tear is expected over time.
Larger appliances can be repaired and repainted as needed.
