At MedicFX, we believe hyper-realistic simulation tools have the power to transform healthcare education. Our facial overlays—designed to reflect real-world diversity across age, race, gender, and trauma profiles—help improve realism, empathy, and diagnostic accuracy in clinical training.
As part of our mission, we’re inviting researchers, simulation educators, and institutions to explore collaborative opportunities with us. Whether you're forming a new research idea or building on existing simulation work, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re making available 10 to 20 donated facial overlays for research and educational institutions working on projects related to:
OSCE performance and learner assessment
Diagnostic delay or clinical bias reduction
Empathy, resilience, and psychological fidelity
Diversity and inclusion in simulation training
We also welcome collaboration on custom or population-specific overlay development if your study or curriculum calls for something unique.
This opportunity is open to anyone involved in health education, simulation, or research, including:
University-affiliated simulation centres and educators
Postgraduate and PhD students exploring simulation or DEI topics
Interdisciplinary researchers in medical education, psychology, or cultural studies
Clinical educators or course developers with innovative simulation ideas
You do not need to have a fully developed study to express interest—if you have an idea or want to explore what’s possible, we’re happy to talk.
In return for overlay support, we hope to partner on projects that:
Aim toward formal research or education outcomes
Intend to publish, present, or share findings in an academic or professional setting
Are committed to improving inclusion, realism, and learner preparedness
Are open to crediting MedicFX as a contributor or supporter
If you're interested, simply fill out the short expression of interest form below. We’ll ask for:
A brief description of your idea or area of interest
Your role and institution
Any initial thoughts on patient types or training goals
Whether you’d like a call to discuss next steps
