How to use our Stick On Wounds

MEDICFX Stick-On Wounds & Skin Appliances

Quick to apply. Highly effective. Realistic results.

All MEDICFX stick-on wounds and skin appliances are pre-glued to a plasticised sheet for fast, simple application. Designed for simulation environments, they deliver lifelike results with minimal setup.

1. Select the Right Appliance

Choose an appliance in the correct size and skin tone. Standard skin tones available:

  • Light (default wound colour)

  • Tan

  • Dark

For repeated use on the same actor or manikin, matching the skin tone will improve realism. Custom tones can be made to order on request.

2. Application

  1. Clean the application site with isopropyl alcohol.

  2. Peel the appliance from the backing sheet.

  3. Gently press it onto the cleaned skin or manikin surface.

The appliance will adhere on its own with the pre-applied adhesive. For longer sessions or heavy use, additional adhesive is recommended.

3. Adhesive Options

Option A: FX Glue Gel (MEDICFX product)

  • Heat in microwave for 5–10 seconds

  • Apply a thin layer to the back of the appliance using a brush or spatula

  • Press firmly onto the skin

  • Use additional gel to blend edges if needed

  • Lightly powder with baby powder to remove surface tackiness

To remove: Gently peel off the wound and wash with warm water and mild soap.
Caution: Always test temperature before applying heated gel.

Option B: Pros-Aide Cream (medical-grade acrylic adhesive)

  • Apply a thin layer to both the skin and the back of the appliance

  • Allow to dry until clear and tacky

  • Press the appliance into place and secure all edges

  • Blend with additional cream if desired

To remove: Use Pros-Aide Remover.

4. Optional Colouring

MEDICFX silicone appliances can be temporarily enhanced with:

  • Grease-based paints

  • Alcohol-activated paints

These will not permanently alter the product and can be cleaned off.
Avoid using foundation or skin-tone makeup to recolour the appliance, as it can result in a patchy or unrealistic finish.
However, bruising, dirt, and shading can be safely applied.

5. Blood Effects

Fake blood can be applied to enhance realism.
Note: Most bloods bead up on silicone. Mix in a drop of dish soap to improve flow and adhesion.

Avoid any oil-based products, which may compromise the adhesive bond.

MEDICFX offers simulation blood products designed for silicone appliances.

6. Cleaning & Storage After Use

  • Wash under lukewarm water

  • The sticky backing will remain effective after washing

  • Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth or paper towel

  • Ensure the appliance is completely dry before storage

  • Store in a cool, dark place, ideally in a sealed plastic bag or box

7. Durability & Reuse

MEDICFX stick-on appliances are made from high-grade, flexible silicone designed to endure repeated use.
With proper care, they will last for multiple simulations.
Some signs of wear are normal with extended use.
