MO750 Wearable C-section model

Elevate the realism of your medical simulation training with our wearable C-section model, designed for dynamic interaction with standardised patients (SPs) or manikins.

This advanced C-section simulation model provides an unparalleled level of realism for medical training, bringing an immersive experience to both trainees and instructors. It is designed for optimal versatility, capable of being worn by SPs or fitted to a variety of manikins.

The model is constructed from robust, high-quality silicone, featuring an anatomically accurate abdominal cavity including key structures such as the intestines, aorta, inferior vena cava, and bladder. The cavity can accommodate a full-term baby manikin (Baby Aiden), placenta, and a shortened umbilical cord, all housed within a flexible silicone uterus. The model is covered by a realistic pregnant belly skin with authentic striae and vulva.

Baby Aiden represents a 38-40 week full-term infant that fits comfortably within the uterus. The infant manikin can simulate ventilation via a bag valve mask, enabling visible chest rise.

Training options with this model include SP normal C-section simulation, peri mortem C-section with a manikin, urinary catheterisation, postnatal infant care, and practicing surgical incisions, suturing, and repairs.

Safety is paramount when utilising the C-Section model with SPs. Clothing or garments may be worn underneath the model for comfort and privacy.

Moreover, the model offers a multitude of customisable features to adapt to a wide range of training scenarios, including vaginal birthing, cord collapse, bleeding at incision site, peri mortem c-section, postpartum haemorrhage, and more.

Preparation

  • Attach baby Aiden to the placenta with the umbilical cord.
  • Fill the baby's belly reservoir with 10cc blood and liquid soap if umbilical cannulation is required.
  • Lubricate the baby with a hair conditioner or personal water-based lubricant, then insert it into the uterus.
  • Place the placenta inside the uterus.
  • Optionally, add amnion fluid with a latex-free condom filled with warm water and blood.
  • Close the uterus and place it inside the model base, then cover it with the pregnant belly.

Simulation recommendations

  • Carefully perform a simulated C-section, following standard procedures.
  • The baby and placenta can be removed, and the umbilical cord separated. Cord wraps around the stump on the baby.
  • The uterus and belly skin can be sutured with a round needle only.

Additional Scenarios

  • Cord collapse scenario: Cut out the vagina opening in the vulva. Lubricate the cord and place the placenta inside the belly close to the vagina opening and drop the cord through the opening.
  • PPH scenario: lead the extra tube through the uterus opening if the bleeding occurs during the c-section. If the hemorrhaging occurs during a vaginal birthing situation, lead the tube close to the vagina opening. Connect the other side to a syringe idled with blood or any other blood pump system.
  • Bloodlines for the IVC and Aorta are included, allowing additional training with a pregnant patient. To use the lines attach longer bloodlines and blood pumps. You can form a loop by connecting the 2 lines with the included connector tube.

Care & Repair

  • Both the uterus and belly skin can be repaired after use. Follow the included instructions for cleaning, mixing silicone components, and curing.
  • Warnings and Recommendations:
    • Don’t submerge baby in full water, the baby's lungs will fill with water.
    • Use a round needle for suturing where possible.
    • Only glucose-free blood mixed with liquid soap is recommended.
