We once left a MEDICFX facial overlay on a manikin after a session. An orderly walked past the room and thought a real patient had been left behind. That moment captured just how convincing these overlays are - they can stop people in their tracks

It literally takes 30 seconds to remove and reapply the overlays, which means we can reset the manikin straight after a debrief. With the stroke twin pack, we first ran the scenario without facial droop, then reapplied the overlay with droop. The subtle change was fantastic, it really tested whether the team picked up on the signs. That speed and flexibility make a big difference in how much we can cover in a single session

In our hospital, we see a wide mix of patients - elderly, ethnic minorities, vulnerable populations. Yet in simulation, those groups are often missing. Using MEDICFX overlays allows us to represent the patients who are most common in care, but least represented in training. It makes our scenarios more authentic and meaningful.
